Technical Sales Executive

We are currently recruiting for a Sales Executive with a scientific or technical sales background. Based in the Midlands, PI-KEM specialises in the sale of Scientific Equipment and Advanced Materials into commercial and research sites. The company represents a range of industry specialists from the US, Europe and the UK. We are a friendly team who are passionate about providing an excellent standard of service and support to our customers.

The Company has seen a continued increase in turnover and now requires a further Sales Executive with responsibility for a specific portfolio of Advanced Materials. You will have the drive to seek out new business as well as maintain and develop existing customer accounts. You’ll participate in all aspects of the sales process including working to tight technical specifications and advising on suitable solutions for customer requirements.

This job is particularly suited to candidates with degree level education in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry or associated discipline who has a minimum of two years experience working within a commercial sales environment. Alternatively they should have a proven track record within commercial scientific or technical sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet agreed sales growth and gross profit targets.
  • Provide a quick and efficient response to customer enquiries, including liaising with suppliers, to facilitate an effective solution to their application. Follow up on sales leads to ensure a high conversation rate in line with the company's KPI's.
  • Maintain and develop current relationships with existing customers and suppliers.
  • Provide after-sales support.
  • Present the Company to potential clients through direct communication, face to face meetings, pop-up exhibitions, telephone and emails.
  • Work with our marketing department to identify applicable industry data and contact details from social media, published research and other web-based sources to generate new business.
  • Attend trade exhibitions in UK and Europe.
  • Feedback on supplier activities and product innovations for area of responsibility.
  • Maintain regular contact with members of the sales team to ensure a cross flow of information.
  • Utilise google alerts, funding sites, research blogs etc to stay up to date with current research projects and trends.
