Technical Sales Executive

Based in Tamworth Office with minimum five days UK travelling a month.

Based close to Junction 10 on the M42, PI-KEM specialises in the sale of Scientific Equipment and Advanced Materials. Due to continued year on year growth we're recruiting for an additional member of our Sales Team. We are a friendly team who are passionate about providing an excellent standard of customer service and developing new business. Last year we were proud to be identified by the Department of International Trade as being a high growth SME for export.

As Technical Sales Executive you will have commercial sales experience and a scientific or technical background. You will take responsibility for a specific portfolio of Advanced Materials including wafers, sputtering targets and powders. You will have the drive to seek out new business as well as maintain and develop our existing customer accounts. Based primarily at our Tamworth Office you will be expected to spend a minimum of five days a month visiting our UK customers and there will be opportunities for overseas travel.

Candidates must have a minimum two years proven track record in technical or scientific sales, ideally with degree level education in Materials Science, Chemistry or an associated discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet agreed sales growth and gross profit targets.
  • Provide a quick and efficient response to customer enquiries.
  • Follow up on sales leads to ensure a high conversion rate in line with the company's KPI's.
  • Maintain and develop current relationships with existing customers and suppliers.
  • Provide after-sales support.
  • Present the Company to potential clients through direct communication, face to face meetings, trade and pop-up exhibitions, telephone and emails.
  • Work with our marketing department to identify applicable industry data and contact details from social media, published research and other web-based sources to generate new business.
  • Feedback on supplier activities and suggest new innovations for the Company product portfolio.
  • Work closely with all members of the Sales and Marketing team to ensure a cross flow of information.
  • Stay up to date with current research projects and trends.

Person Specification:

  • The ideal candidate will be a confident and ambitious individual who is committed to achieving high standards throughout their work.

The essential characteristics and skills required are:

  • Minimum of two years experience in scientific or technical sales.
  • Attended customer sites and exhibitions.
  • Highly motivated, target-driven with a pro-active approach to workload.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • An enquiring mind and desire to stay up to date with current research and product developments.
  • Able to build relationships quickly and effectively to develop new contacts and support the existing customer base.
  • Knowledge and experience of using web-based marketing tools, Microsoft Office and CRM databases.
  • Full UK Driving licence and access to own vehicle - essential user allowance is payable.
  • A sound knowledge of chemical formulae as well as metric and imperial units of measurement.

The desirable characteristics and skills are:

  • Knowledge of Advanced Materials.
  • Educated to degree level in Materials Science/ Metallurgy/ Chemistry/ related discipline.

Marketing Executive (Part-time)

Job Summary

We supply specialist materials and equipment to the exciting and ever-changing world of scientific research from our offices in Tamworth. We’re looking for an ambitious Marketing Executive with a passion for what they do to join us and help grow the business further.

Key Responsibilities

This role is for someone who will relish utilising a mix of different marketing tools and get the job done. It includes everything from devising the marketing strategy; to copy writing, digital and print material production, using a CRM system, building web pages, making social media posts and planning out new campaigns.

This role is for someone who has ambition, initiative and works hard. A sense of responsibility is key. The role is there to be developed and for someone to make it their own.

  • Working under the direction of the Business Development Manager to create the marketing strategy and carry out activities to achieve the company's marketing goals and business growth objectives.
  • Responsible for planning and production of the Company e-shots, website, social media and both digital and printed marketing materials including content, design and distribution as per marketing plan and brand guidelines. This will involve working closely with the BDM, Sales Team and others from both inside and outside the Company.
  • Liaise with the Sales Team for product information, pricing and scientific research topics.
  • Ensure value for money from marketing suppliers and that the department operates in line with budget.
  • Maintain customer records, lists and segmentation across the Company marketing channels using relevant software.
  • Research and analyse industry events. Plan attendance and/or produce marketing materials.
  • Use analytic tools across all the Company marketing channels to assess impact of marketing activities and produce regular reports.
  • Generate leads from industry sources to grow customer base.
  • Maintain brand guidelines and ensure brand consistency across the Company.
  • Optimise content across all marketing channels through analysis of digital / print performance.
  • Maintain content asset library.
  • Source or produce product photography as required.
  • Complete focused research tasks to report on marketing and business development opportunities.
  • Attend customer sites, industry events and exhibitions as required.

Qualifications and Skills

Desirable characteristics and skills

  • Educated to CIM Level 3 or foundation degree in Marketing or related subjects.
  • Minimum 3 years but ideally 4 years experience in Marketing or related area.
  • Experience of working in a technical, scientific or engineering market would be advantageous, but not essential.

Junior Marketing Assistant (Full-Time)

We’re looking for a passionate Junior Marketing Assistant to join us and help grow the business. They will be early in their marketing career but ambitious, forward thinking and, with excellent support and training opportunities, driven to develop their professional skills further.

Key Responsibilities

This job will suit a person who enjoys a mix of different marketing tasks. It includes everything from assisting the Business Development Manager to copy writing, producing both digital and print material, using a CRM system, building web pages, making social media posts and assisting to organise events.

Duties

Working under the supervision of the Business Development Manager, and in line with the Company Marketing Plan, you will;

  • Help to create the marketing strategy and plan to achieve the Company marketing goals so it’s development and growth objectives are met.
  • Produce all the Company e-shots, social media posts as well as digital and printed materials including content, design and distribution.
  • Maintain the Company website including production of content and design, updating pages, products and pricing.
  • Liaise with the Sales Team for product information, pricing and scientific research topics.
  • Provide fact-checking, copy-editing, design, formatting and brand adherence for al marketing materials.
  • Organise and plan the production of marketing materials including following a tight schedule, keeping within a budget and liaising with other people from both within and outside of the Company.
  • Maintain customer records, lists and segmentation across Company marketing channels using CRM, Mailchimp, social media apps and other relevant software.
  • Research industry events. Maintain an event schedule. Assist with planning attendance and/or produce marketing material. Attend event if required. Assist with producing follow-up actions and distribute to team accordingly
  • Maintain excellent customer relationships through superb customer service skills.
  • Use analytic tools across all Company marketing channels and report regularly on the impact of marketing activities.
  • Support other staff by updating them on marketing activities; identifying potential new leads; researching scientific trends, funding streams, industry activity and competitor activity; providing support both before, during and after exhibitions.
  • Utilise the Company systems in day to day marketing activity including; Sage, CRM, social media platforms, website and other relevant software.
  • Optimise content through analysis of digital performance (SEO).
  • Maintain content asset library and the Company marketing resources.
  • Produce or source product photography as required.
  • Complete focussed research tasks for specific products, industries, research topics or geographical areas.
  • Provide administration support to the marketing department and assist in covering for staff in other departments when absent.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal person will be confident and committed to achieving high standards throughout their work. They will have most of the following

  • A good understanding of and at least 1 year of experience in marketing
  • A portfolio of marketing successes
  • Excellent spoken and written English and be a confident communicator
  • Initiative – they will want to be involved, come up with their own ideas and take increasing ownership of their work
  • Excellent attention to detail – this is critical in our industry
  • Knowledge and experience of using web-based marketing tools, Microsoft Office, CRM databases and other relevant software
  • Good numerical skills including using Excel to analyse and present data
  • The ability to take digital photographs and manipulate them
  • Some experience of using one or more of the standard Graphic Design packages

Desirable characteristics and skills

  • A Marketing qualification, Business Administration Apprenticeship, related A-level subjects or similar qualification
  • 1 years experience in Marketing or related subjects
