Battery packaging, safety testing, and analysis are essential to ensure the safe and reliable operation of ionic batteries, which are widely used in a variety of applications, including consumer electronics, electric vehicles, and energy storage systems.

Correct battery packaging plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of batteries. The packaging must protect the battery from external hazards such as mechanical shock, vibration, and moisture, whilst also preventing the release of hazardous gases in case of thermal runaway, a potentially catastrophic event that can lead to fire or explosion.

Battery safety tests are conducted to ensure that batteries meet stringent safety standards and minimise the risk of fire or explosion. These tests evaluate the battery's ability to withstand various abuse conditions, including:

  • Overcharging and overdischarging
  • Short circuit
  • Impact and vibration
  • High temperature and humidity
  • Thermal runaway

Battery analysis allows researchers and designers to understand the behaviour of batteries under various conditions and to identify potential safety hazards.
